Last night I attended Journeys with Purpose at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).
Organised by Al Alastair Humphreys and Shane Winser it aimed to bring those who have explored into contact with those who perhaps have plans and need help turning them into a reality.
The night was awash with a kind of crazy energy that comes when a bunch of excitable, ‘can do’ people bounce ideas off of, fuse concepts and swap stories with each other. The hallowed society became a nuclear reactor of adventurous ideas. The din from the hall nearly took the roof off!
Journeys with Purpose acts as a entrée to The Expeditions and Fieldwork Planning workshop, Explore 2014, in November at the RGS. A weekend full of workshops and talks with the aim of making shit happen. I can’t recommend it enough.
